Welcome to Sacks Properties:

Apparently blogs are all the rage now, so I’ve decided to sit down and write one. However it is a great opportunity to reflect on what a crazy few weeks it has been since opening the doors here at Sacks Properties. Sacks Properties, wow that still sounds a bit weird if I’m honest. But I am really proud to start this company and put my name to it. I’m proud of my 19 years so far in the property investment sector and proud that I even get the opportunity to build something from the ground up.

So we’ve managed to secure a great office in Altrincham. Our Marketing Manager Ashley is particularly happy with the office because she can sit, I mean stand, at her standing desk and look out to the hills in the distance while we get our heads down and work so hard at building this company. The office is barely a 10 minute drive from my house too so when I couldn’t sleep at 5am this morning I just rolled into the office and watched the sun come up whilst working.

Despite our infancy, the office has been a hive of activity these last few weeks. Many of my contacts have popped into the office to offer their support which has been really motivational. Whether it’s property developers who want to partner with us, investors that want to find deals with us, or former colleagues that want to work with us. Just to hear their good wishes has been extremely uplifting.

And then there’s my new team, Ashley Jackson who has joined as Marketing Manager and Sam Egerton who has joined as a Property Investment Consultant. My interview technique is to hold a quick and casual 5-10 minute video chat to see how we get on. At the end of the day, do I vibe with this person and do I want to spend 50% of my waking hours in an office with them!? Well my call with Ashley lasted over an hour and from that point I knew I wanted her on board. Although that in itself was a challenge as Ashley was in her former role for 30 years which meant she then started interviewing me to ensure I was going to build the right company and environment for her. Thankfully we agreed terms and Ashley has absolutely hit the ground running.

I met Sam last year and immediately liked his relaxed yet professional approach to dealing with investors. I like to take a very consultative approach to helping my investor clients and Sam is clearly cut from the same cloth. Sam was looking to join a couple of other investment companies but when we sat down and I explained my vision he was immediately onboard which I took as a huge compliment.

Yesterday was an exciting day as we sat down and planned out our Mission Statement and vision for the company. I was asked the question, ‘What’s the real reason you started this company?’ I immediately knew I should have a pre-planned answer for this but I really didn’t and almost froze. After pondering for a few seconds I said, ‘Honestly, I just want to build an amazing company that looks after its clients and is well regarded in the industry.’ Hopefully we are about to do that as this journey commences.
